Bayless Earns USBWA All-District Kudos
University of Arizona men’s basketball player Jerryd Bayless was named an all-district performer by the United States Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced Tuesday.
Bayless was one of 10 student-athletes named to the District IX team, which covers the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.
Bayless, a 6-foot-3, 199-pound freshman guard from Phoenix, Ariz., earned the all-district honors after averaging 20.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 27 appearances. Jerryd Bayless shoots 46.9 percent (160-of-341) from the field and a team-leading 83.1 percent (172-of-207) from the free throw line. He’s finished in double figures 24 times this year, including 12 20-point and four 30-point games. He was also a second team all-Pac-10 selection.

Arizona (18-13, 8-10 Pac-10) will next be in action on Wednesday, March 12, vs. Oregon State at the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles. The game will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. PDT and will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
