Eight Cats Make NBA Playoff Appearances
When it comes to stocking National Basketball Association playoff rosters, no one does it better than the University of Arizona, as eight former Wildcats have helped their squads to berths in the 2008 playoffs.
Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards), Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks), Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers), Damon Stoudamire (San Antonio Spurs), Salim Stoudamire (Atlanta Hawks), Jason Terry (Dallas Mavericks), Luke Walton (Los Angeles Lakers) and Loren Woods (Houston Rockets) are all a part of the NBA’s postseason.
No other school in the country produced as many playoff players as Arizona’s eight. North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky and Connecticut each placed five players in the NBA playoffs.
Dating back to opening night, Arizona ranked fourth nationally with 10 former players on NBA rosters and actually finished the regular season with a total of 11 active players on team rosters.
Cumulatively, Arizona alums averaged 118.2 points, 69.2 rebounds and 30.0 assists per game during the regular season. As a group, those 11 Wildcats earned more than $56 million this year.
