Visiting ASU beats Arizona

Junior Jeff Pendergraph scored a career-high 29 points, and Arizona State rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit to defeat Arizona 59-54 on Sunday afternoon.

Pendergraph hit 12 of 16 shots from the floor and had a game-high eight rebounds as the Sun Devils swept the two-game season series from Arizona for the first time since 1995, ending a 12-year drought in Tucson.

Arizona State (15-7, 5-5 Pac-10) needed all of Pendergraph's production to overcome a career-high 39 points by Arizona star Jerryd Bayless, who hit his first seven shots from the field, including four 3-pointers.

Jerryd Bayless, who missed a potential tying 3-pointer with three seconds left, went 12 of 18 from the field and six of 10 from beyond the arc. But he had little help from his teammates, who shot a combined 3-for-23 from the field and 1-for-10 in 3-pointers.

Arizona's Chase Budinger went 1-for-12 from the field and scored four points, 13 below his average.

No. 3 North Carolina 103, Clemson 93 (2 OT): At Chapel Hill, N.C., Tyler Hansbrough scored 13 of his 39 points in the first and second overtimes to help the Tar Heels rally from a 15-point deficit to beat Clemson.

No. 13 Xavier 76, Saint Joseph's 72: At Cincinnati, Stanley Burrell scored 16 points and made a pair of clinching free throws with 13 seconds left to help the Musketeers win the matchup of the Atlantic 10's top two teams.

No. 14 Indiana 59, Ohio St. 53: At Columbus, Ohio, D.J. White had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Eric Gordon hit a number of big shots to lead the Hoosiers (20-3, 9-1 Big Ten) defeat Ohio State.
