Pac-10 Power Rankings
1. UCLA (22-3, 10-2 Pac-10):
The Bruins avenged their earlier loss to USC over the weekend. Coupled with Stanford’s loss to ASU, UCLA finds itself back in first place, alone.
2. Stanford (21-4, 10-3 Pac-10):
The loss to ASU shouldn’t damage Stanford’s tournament seeding too much. The Cardinal is still rolling.
3. WSU (20-5, 8-5 Pac-10):
It looks like the Cougars are on their way back after a little mini-slide dropped them back into the middle of the pack. They’ve got some separation now and seem to be in good shape for postseason play.
4. Arizona State (16-8, 6-6 Pac-10):
Many had said the Sun Devils were dead after a brief losing streak a couple weeks ago, but their win over Stanford injected some much-needed life back into the young squad. They’ve got a big weekend in Washington coming up.
5. USC (15-9, 6-6 Pac-10):
The Trojans may need a sweep of the Oregon schools this weekend to secure an NCAA tournament bid.
6. Arizona (16-9, 6-6 Pac-10):
Even with Jerryd Bayless and Chase Budinger tearing it up, the Cats are still going to be on the outside of the NCAA tournament looking in if they don’t manage to get a sweep in Washington this weekend.
7. California (15-9, 6-7 Pac-10):
A win over Stanford this weekend would be enormous, but unless the Bears can find a way to pull off that massive upset, their tournament hopes are probably dead.
8. Oregon (15-10, 6-7 Pac-10):
It looks like the Malik Hairston era is going to be wasted. The Ducks were more or less eliminated from postseason contention with their loss to WSU Saturday. A trip to L.A. this weekend won’t help things, either.
9. Washington (14-12, 5-8 Pac-10):
Even if the Huskies’ tournament hopes died a while ago, Husky fans have to be pleased with the effort the Dawgs put forth in beating a hapless Oregon State team. Games against Arizona and ASU this weekend could boost morale even further.
10. Oregon State (6-19, 0-13 Pac-10):
Note to the Beavers: Win a conference game before you try to trash talk. But since you lost by 38 to the one team you thought you could beat, that’s probably not going to happen. Get ready for 0-18.
