WESTBROOK TO VISIT KNICKS
UCLA sophomore point guard Russell Westbrook will be the flavor of the day at their Westchester campus when the Knicks New York Knicks conduct their first pre-draft workouts in preparation for the June 26 NBA draft.
Teams weren't allowed to work out players until today. The Knicks select sixth and Westbrook could go anywhere from 5 to 12.
Two other intriguing prospects on hand are shot-blocking center JaVale McGee, a Nevada junior who will also work out today and is expected to be taken in the mid-first-round, and 6-8 forward Joe Alexander of West Virginia, considered a late lottery pick. Donnie Walsh has said the club needs shot-blockers.
Isiah Thomas, still employed by the Knicks, was not at the Orlando pre-draft camp nor is he expected to attend the workouts.
Arizona sophomore Chase Budinger, senior Georgia guard Sundiata Gaines, Arkansas center Steven Hill also will be in Westchester.
